Why Dividends?

Investing in dividend-paying stocks is an excellent way to pursue your investment objectives. Individual investors value the ability of dividends to provide income. Dividends also have the potential to help provide downside protection in difficult market environments. Crawford Investment Counsel, The Advisor for the Crawford Mutual Funds, employs dividends in each of its equity investment strategies. A company’s dividend history plays a vital role in identifying companies with the characteristics the Advisor seeks – quality, consistency, and stability. Through the Crawford Mutual Funds, investors can access the same dividend-oriented investment philosophy and strategies offered to The Advisor’s institutional and private clients through separate accounts.

Large Cap Dividend Fund

Investment Objective: The investment objective of the Crawford Large Cap Dividend Fund is total return. Total return is comprised of both capital appreciation and income.

  • The value-oriented investment discipline pursued by the Fund emphasizes quality, consistency and stability.
When selecting portfolio companies, the research process starts with a universe of companies that have at least a ten-year history of paying and/or growing dividends.
  • The Advisor then selects a portfolio of companies it believes are undervalued that present an attractive trade-off between risk and return.
  • The Advisor seeks to buy high quality securities at attractive valuations and identifies a catalyst that is expected to produce superior return.

Small Cap Dividend Fund

Investment Objective: The investment objective of the Crawford Small Cap Dividend Fund is to provide attractive long-term total return with below market risk as measured by standard deviation in comparison with the Russell 2000© Index. Total return is comprised of both capital appreciation and income.

  • The Fund’s assets are invested primarily in common stocks of small capitalization companies that demonstrate a consistent pattern of earnings and dividend growth.
  • The Fund invests primarily in companies with market capitalizations within the range of market capitalization of the companies appearing in the Russell 2000 Index.
  • The Advisor believes small capitalization stocks are prone to inefficient pricing. It seeks to exploit these inefficiencies through a systematic, fundamental, longer-term investment process focused on above-average companies trading at attractive valuations.
  • The Advisor looks to invest long-term in companies with sound management, strong balance sheets, and the ability to produce consistent earnings and dividends.
  • The Advisor utilizes a bottom-up, value-oriented approach to stock selection, focusing on company fundamentals, in an effort to identify stocks of companies where the market prices do not reflect their true values. The Advisor’s equity investment team works together to identify appropriate stocks.

Multi-Asset Income Fund

Investment Objective: The investment objective of the Crawford Multi-Asset Income Fund is to provide current income.

  • The Fund invests primarily in dividend paying common stocks, preferred stocks, corporate bonds, U.S. government securities, convertible bonds and real estate investment trusts (REITs).
  • The Fund plans to invest in high yield, dividend paying stocks across the capitalization spectrum.
  • The Fund may invest in bonds of all maturities. The Fund’s maturity strategy will be heavily influenced by yield opportunities, which will be balanced by interest rate risk.
  • The Advisor seeks to provide diversified exposure across income producing assets. Within each asset class, the Advisor places an emphasis on the relative quality among the options available. The Advisor also assesses each security’s risk profile and attempts to balance the Fund’s holdings across the four primary risk categories of market risk, interest rate risk, oil/energy price risk and credit risk.
  • The Fund emphasizes income over capital appreciation.
  • The Advisor utilizes a bottom-up approach to security selection.
