Why Dividends?

Crawford Investments, the Advisor for the Crawford Mutual Funds, employs dividends in each of its equity investment strategies. A company’s dividend history plays a vital role in identifying companies with the characteristics the Advisor seeks – quality, consistency, and stability. The Advisor believes that high-quality, undervalued companies with improving fundamentals can lead to attractive returns with below-market risk over full market cycles.

CDGIX / CDGCX

Large Cap Dividend Fund

The investment objective of the Crawford Large Cap Dividend Fund is total return. Total return is comprised of both capital appreciation and income.

Investment Approach
01

Focus on U.S.-listed companies with market capitalizations above $5B and a minimum 10-year history of uninterrupted dividend payments, narrowing the universe to businesses with demonstrated financial durability.

02

Screen for companies exhibiting consistent earnings, strong balance sheets, and sustainable dividend growth, using dividend history as a signal of financial discipline and business quality.

03

Perform bottom-up analysis to evaluate competitive positioning, management quality, cash-flow durability, and valuation to identify opportunities where risk/reward is favorable.

04

Build a 35–40 stock portfolio of high-quality dividend payers with the goal of delivering downside protection, growing income, and long-term outperformance.

CDOFX

Small Cap Dividend Fund

The investment objective of the Crawford Small Cap Dividend Fund is to provide attractive long-term total return with below market risk as measured by standard deviation in comparison with the Russell 2000© Index. Total return is comprised of both capital appreciation and income.

Investment Approach
01

Focus on U.S.-listed companies with market capitalizations between $100 million and $6 billion, targeting a segment where market inefficiencies are more prevalent.

02

Prefer companies with at least three years of dividend history, using dividends as a signal of financial strength, capital allocation discipline, and business durability.

03

Conduct bottom-up fundamental research to evaluate earnings consistency, balance sheet strength, competitive positioning, and valuation to find opportunities where risk/reward is favorable.

04

Construct a 60–80 stock portfolio of high-quality small cap companies designed to capture market inefficiencies while improving the consistency of long-term outcomes.

CMALX

Multi-Asset Income Fund

The investment objective of the Crawford Multi-Asset Income Fund is to provide current income.

Investment Approach
01

Invest across higher-yielding segments of the capital markets including dividend-paying stocks, preferred equity, REITs, energy infrastructure, and corporate bonds.

02

Focus on securities with a yield of 4% or higher, emphasizing sustainable income streams supported by strong underlying businesses and balance sheets.

03

Conduct fundamental analysis to assess credit quality, cash-flow durability, and valuation, identifying securities that offer compelling income with appropriate risk.

04

Use a proprietary risk framework to balance exposures across income sectors, building a focused yet diversified portfolio of 40–60 holdings designed to deliver attractive income with controlled risk.
